Vacation exhaustion

I need a vacation, from my vacation.

We’re at the end of a two week vacation back home to Michigan, visiting family all over the state. We spent three days in Traverse City, climbed Sleeping Bear dunes, collected bunches of stones from the shores of Lake Michigan, and seeing my mom and my brother and his family. We spent a couple of days in West Branch as well seeing my grandmothers, then back down to my in-laws in Fenton for a week.

I was a dunce and forgot my PCMCIA modem, so I couldn’t dial in while I was there (the onboard winmodem on the laptop isn’t supported under Linux). My in-laws let me borrow their dialup account, which was great of them. I didn’t find much WiFi coverage where we were staying, tho. The hotel in West Branch only offered pay-per-high-speed (shame on them), and none of the neighbors anywhere had WiFi. Fenton has 6 free hotspots, but that would have involved dragging the laptop around while shopping or eating. Not my thing.

After two weeks away from home, it’ll be nice to be back in my house. The kids will especially enjoy sleeping in their own beds.
