Myst IV

After 2 months, chele and I finished Myst IV: Revelation last night. We only needed the built-in hint system once (reading D’ni writing sideways was tricky!). I’d rank this one as a tied for first with Riven in my list of favorite Myst games.

Finishing it is a letdown, though. I guess I had been hoping that the game would turn out to be a multi-month effort for us, and it seems llike we’ve solved it too quickly. I’m not sure that we could go back and re-play the others in the series, as I still remember a lot of the details.

Anyone have any suggestions for good Myst-like games? We tried Schism but couldn’t get into the storyline.

Karin and I have been playing The Mystery of the Mummy, which I picked up from the clearance bin at Target for $5. Nowhere near as involved as Myst, but it’s the first “real” (i.e. non-Solitaire) computer game she’s ever played. Maybe next I can get her hooked on HL2…
