In our case we were the "next owners". I was about to rip up our bathroom floor when I realized it was probably chock-a-block with asbestos. So I left the old stuff there and put the new flooring over it. I just got the new shower caulked this weekend and Karin put up another coat of paint. Now we just have to refurbish the shower doors... I've strongly advocated putting up a cheap rod and curtain and calling it good, but I've been repeatedly vetoed. After the doors, I can re-install the loo. Then we need to buy a new sink and refurbish or replace the old vanity. Oh, I suppose we'll need a new mirror too, since the old one was glued to the wall and refused to come down with any dignity or structural coherence.

Still, we're making good progress for only having been at this a couple years now.
