I’m Joe Ammond, a security professional in the U.S. I’ve been around computers/technology since the mid-1970s, starting with learning BASIC on an MTS system at the local community college (I still have the paper tape of my first program somewhere). My degree is in Software Engineering, but I haven’t done any serious development work since before I left college. Instead, I went the ‘system adminstrator’ route: maintaining the network of Sun workstations and other Unix machines that my college had installed.

I’ve been using some flavor of Unix since 1986, and it’s been my primary operating system since the late 1980s.
